Here's a piece of breaking news that has me really bummed out. After working on the project since 2006, Edgar Wright is no longer signed as director of Marvel Studio's Phase Three kick off, Ant-Man. No reason is given at this time, beyond "creative differences". It's a turn of events that has come completely out of left field, considering how long Wright and co-writer Joe Cornish have worked on the script. I was seriously looking forward to seeing their energetic style let loose on a Marvel property, and especially couldn't wait to see what he did with a talented cast which included Paul Rudd, Patrick Wilson, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas. The movie is still pencilled in for its Summer 2015 release date, with a new director to be announced shortly. The full press release is below.

Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on ANT-MAN due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.
