A while back, Channing Tatum made known his desire to play Gambit, the energy throwing mutant played by Taylor Kitsch in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in a future X-Men movie, with rumours going as far as saying he had a meeting with the franchises producer Lauren Shuler Donner. Now, talking to Total Film, Donner has confirmed that Tatum is indeed playing the Ragin' Cajun, saying, "He's a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that. He's got a really good heart, because I know him personally, I did a movie with him. So I think he'll be great, he'll be great for Gambit, and he's a Southerner too, he's not from New Orleans but he is a Southerner, and he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans."
It's likely that Tatum will be pulling on the trench coat and wielding the bo staff in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, the character previously been teased for the movie. But it is equally likely that Fox will want to use his star power with a Gambit solo movie.
