The world was shocked today with the news that beloved actor Bob Hoskins passed away at the age 0f 71 from pneumonia. The British actor first made his mark on the big screen in the 80's, starring in a string of crime dramas, including The Long Good Friday (which bagged his first of many awards), as well as turns in cult classics, like Pink Floyd's the Wall and Brazil. His big break came in the form of Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, a role he is remembered for to this day. He went on from there to star in varied movies, including memorable turns in Mermaids, Hook, Unleashed, and, even though he wished he could erase it from filmography, Super Mario Bros. He is also known to an entire generation of us on this side of the pond as the voice and face of British Telecom. His last role was as the dwarf Muir in Snow White and the Huntsman. He would announce his retirement from acting soon after, revealing he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. The thoughts of everybody here at The Movie Bit are with his friends and family during this hard time.
