Ray Winstone has been in talks recently for playing the role of bad guy in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and now it seems he has been offered the part. The cast has been assembled rather quickly and no time is being wasted. Russell Crowe has signed on for the leading man as well as Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth playing his sons. Emma Watson is to play the love interest who takes a shine to Booth, Noah’s wife is still up for grabs with both Julianne Moore and Jennifer Connelly in the frame. Obviously this being literally a biblical tale, Noah will be facing more than a little rain. Noah is set to start filming in August with a view to a release date in March 2014.
Director Aronofsky has been considering a long list of actors to star opposite Crowe with names including Liam Neeson and Val Kilmer. Now however Winstone looks to be the favoured option.

But it would seem that Noah faces more of a challenge in this film than just the sort of downpour that would put the UK’s recent weather to shame. Aronofsky has been running down a list of likely villains, with Val Kilmer, Liev Schreiber and Liam Neeson all considered. But it would seem that Winstone has won out as someone who can truly challenge Crowe physically.
Noah will start shooting in August and has set a release date of March 28, 2014.
