The last few years of Lindsay Lohan’s life have been turbulent. Despite well publicized, personal troubles and her ostracism from Hollywood, the estranged, former child star has pressed on in her attempts to revive her career. Now, it looks as though she could be rewarded for her efforts after landing the female lead in the upcoming Bret Easton Ellis/Paul Schrader, Kickstarter funded project The Canyons.
Fans of Bret Easton Ellis will note that the controversial author has had a mixed bag when it comes to screen adaptations of his work, from the brilliant American Psycho, to the truly average The Informers. Now it seems, fed up with the dilution of his ideas via the cinematic process, the writer has teamed up with Taxi Driver writer, and reputed director, Paul Schrader to make the film as pure and true to his vision as possible.
The Canyons follows the lives of a group of young men and women on their travails through the mirky LA underbelly of sex and crime. Followers of Ellis on Twitter will have recently read “Shooting The Canyons starring James Deen and Lindsay Lohan: July 9-31 in LA. Could not have dreamed of a better cast. Lindsay nailed it...”
Lohan will play a young woman, wrapped up in a materialistic lifestyle (herself?) opposite newcomer Deen. It should be noted that James Deen is an award winning pornstar, perhaps unsurprising given his hilarious name. He’ll play Lohan’s manipulative boyfriend with delusions of making movies.
If the material is good, the direction great and Lohan pulls one out of the bag, we could be on for a very exciting movie.
