Coming across like a mash up of Toy Story and The Chronicles of Narnia, The Stuff Of Legend is a comic book mini series written by Mike Raicht and Brian Smith, with art by Charles Paul Wilson III. Set in 1944, it see's a young abducted by the Boogeyman and brought to a realm called The Dark, which resides in the boy's closet. A small group of the boy's toys, led by a toy soldier and a teddy bear, enter The Dark on a rescue mission, becoming real life version of themselves and coming into conflict with The Boogeyman's similarly changed army, comprised of toys stored in the closet.
Pete Candeland, co-director on Gorillaz music videos such as 'Clint Eastwood' and '19-2000', has signed onto direct a script by Shawn Christensen (Abduction). The plan is to make a live-action film set in a CGI world, similar to Alice In Wonderland. I've only read the first issue of the book, but it's a dark, beautiful, and highly inventive tale, which done properly would look absolutely jaw dropping on the big screen. Time will tell on this project.
