Eying a September start date, Jose Padilha's Robocop remake has announced a new casting, with Gary Oldman signed on as Norton, the creator of the titular cyborg, played by Joel Kinnaman. This is a brand new character and ties in with the director's earlier comments about his movie going in a slightly different direction to the original, with more focus on the transformation ordinary beat cop Alex Murphy undergoes to become the future of law enforcement, a process confined to only one scene in the original.
No other cast members have been announced, but expect to hear more as the movie nears the beginning of production.
