Pre-production on RED 2 is gathering steam with Caterine Zeta-Jones being added to cast, joining Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, and John Malkovich (the highlight of the original with his crazy old man routine) who reprise their roles of the over the hill C.I.A. agents, this time causing havoc in Europe. Director Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) is at helm, replacing original director Robert Schwentke, working from a script by original scribes Erich and Jon Hoeber. While the original was very, very loosely based on the graphic novel by Warren Ellis and Cully Hammer, the sequel will feature an original story for the characters.
Zeta-Jones is also joined by another new cast member, Byung-Hun Lee, best known as Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe movies. There is no word as of yet on who they will be playing.
